Will Bee Glad

Image
And so a new day begins. With this! A bee swarm. Will be glad for this nightmare to end.  The bees have made their home in the soffit of our house. The dozens or so flying around the chimney alerted us to a situation needing swift intervention. At 6:30 this morning the removal process began.  The neighborhood was buzzing when this beast arrived this morning.  Ali is intrigued by all the activity. Missy, on the other hand, is hiding. Opening the roof soffit.  Honey was dripping out of the roof in streams.  It is likely that this has been their home for a couple of years.  This was a medium size hive, meaning about 25,000 bees. Yikes! (I need to have my epipen handy just typing that sentence.) The  bees are moving into the catch box.  A lot of bees were saved today.  Well, the bees be gone, and now we return to our regular programming and on to the rest of the day ahead. I'll begin by having some honey gifted from our contractor.

Lilac Joy

Image
Our backyard is ablooom with all kinds of lilacs, and I could dwell in that scent forever. Their blooms have never before been this prolific, and I had no idea we had so many different kinds.  The gorgeous deep blue of lithodora rounds out this color palette so beautifully.  Not sure what this one is, but it fits right in.   This succulent survived winter with careful attention paid to those cold nights.  The fushia is already blooming!

Today's Walk

Image
I never really noticed this tunnel-type entrance on the trail, but today it just jumped out and invited me in.    This one was sweetly inviting, too.  The goslings are getting bigger. They are no longer little yellow puffballs; I see some black patterns now. This turtle was a monster! Kayak spotted today.  The teeth on these beavers . . . wow. Miniature beauty

Clematis

The clematis in my front yard is a beast this year.
